JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary: A position has become available for an experienced full-time cover keeper to start as soon as possible . We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our team to cover all sections within the park. You will be working 5 days per week with fixed days, including weekends and bank holidays with 28 days holiday per year. Hours are 8.30am until 5.30pm.
Duties:
- Provide daily care for animals including feeding, cleaning, and enrichment activities
- Monitor animal behaviour and health, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team
- Assist in the maintenance of animal enclosures and facilities - Engage with visitors, providing educational information about the animals and conservation efforts
- Participate in animal training programmes to support enrichment and healthcare routines
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure high standards of animal welfare are maintained as well as alone and unsupervised
Experience:
- Previous experience working with a variety of animals in a zoo or wildlife setting (6 months) - Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and welfare requirements
- Strong observational skills with the ability to recognise changes in animal behaviour or health
- Excellent communication skills with a passion for educating others about wildlife conservation
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Due to the physical nature of the job, applications will need to be physically fit and healthy, and be fully prepared to work outside in all weathers.
-You must be educated to at least GCSE level in English and Maths.
-An animal-based qualification is preferred but not essential.
-A full driving licence is essential due to our rural location
